The position of Camp Webb was held for the pm-pose ofpreventing a flank movement by the Spanish, and the strict-est vigilance was maintained by the outposts. The men ofboth companies were required to remain awake during thenight, and both companies alternately took twenty-fourhours charge of the outpost work. On the outposts, everyman able to muster was made use of and posted in pairs,relieving each other every six hours.
