Description
English: The Dutch engaged with the French or English

The dating of this drawing is tentative and its subject non-specific, but it probably relates to an action during either the second or third Anglo-Dutch wars. The image centres on a stern view of battle-damaged ship, with a smaller coastal vessel nearby to the right. To the left, another ship fires its starboard guns – its target just visible on the far left of the picture. Several other ships are indicated lightly in the background.
