English: The Dutch fleet lying in the Helder 4/14 May 1665

On the left, a distant view of a number of ships lying at anchor with their fore and main yards acockbil. In the centre foreground, a port bow view of a smalschip at anchor. To the right, a small harbour with a vessel sailing out from it.

It is inscribed on the back ‘op hemelvarts dagh den (?14) meij 1665 / smorgens soo als hem de vloet vertonde / van de helder te sien / No 2’ (On Ascension Day the 14 May 1665 in the morning showing how the fleet appeared as seen from Den Helder. No 2.)

This is an unsigned pencil and wash drawing by the Younger.
