tedbecause a scientific department like the IndianForest Service might easily obtain such a seriesof specimens for transmission to England as wouldenable the whole history of the Burmese Cardamom, DESIGNS FOR CONSERVA-TORIES. Horticultural builders have to study not onlythe requirements of plant growers but of architects.Conservatories intended to form part of the featuresof a mansion should obviously be in accordance withthe style of the building, and as these structures areprimarily designed for show houses rather than forhouses wherein to grow plants, their suitability to thelatter purpose is for this point of view a matter ofsecondary consequence. The accompanying designs(figs. 21, 22), prepared by Messrs. Weeks & Co,,show how well the horticultural builders can adapttheir structures to architectural requirements. In theone case we have a conservatory in the style of QueenAnne (stupidly called the Early English style), whilethe other is a Gothic design of Middle Pointed style.
