oth see nude children. It is a fact declared by themost conservative of white explorers, that the nakedtribes of aborigines are the most pure, chaste, andtruly modest. Our conception that because Indiansare unclothed they aretherefore indecent andunclean, impure and un-chaste, is a dirty concep-tion, dishonoring to our-selves and our Creator.Honi soit qui mal y pense, and to the pure allthings are pure are astrue to-day as when theywere first spoken andwritten, and while I amas opposed as is any oneliving to nude picturesand statues that havenothing to com m endthein but their nudity;while I am stronglyopposed to promiscuousnudity either in wholeor in part, I ain equally opposed to the mental attitude that nudity in itself iswrong, and that the Creator did not know His busi-ness when he created us both nude and of differentsexes. Thus the i^ower of Gods ownsun and air enter my body through every pore of theskin, and* I enjoy a health, vigor, vim, and tingle ofdelight I can get in no other w^aj\ When I first visited the Havasupai Indians, all themen were nude, part of the time, save for the breech-clout. In their dances, in some of which I participated,it w^as a delight to see the movements of their perfectmuscles, their bronze flesh glistening in the sun, or inthe glow of the camp fires. And men, wome
