Al-though, by the terms, as you propose, you take four openings andcloses, to my three, I accede, and thus close the arrangement. Mr.Lincolns letter is dated Springfield, but it was sent by the authorfrom some place in Piatt county to Senator Douglas in Bement. Weare not disposed to criticise too harshly the style of Mr. Lincolnsletter. It is now printed and speaks for itself its own praise or con-demnation. But, the public will have their opinion of it, and it canbe none other than that it is as badly conceived as bunglingly express-ed.
