I said to the Top Sergeantwho is a pal of mine, Gee! guy, Illbet theres eagles and hawks andwrens all over the mountains, andabout a thousand kind of sparrows inthe grass and trees and about a millionkind of birds that I never saw before,and the Top shot back, Yep, betthere is too, wonder if they have anyof those Mexican Parrots down there.So we journeyed on as eager as therest. And after the routine of makingcamp was over, the Top and I wereready to go out among them. Andso we did. Hot Wells consisted prin-cipally (and entirely,) of one AdobeHotel, one small store, two adobe andone cross tie dwellings, and a smallwooden bath-house, and lay on abroad valley formed by two ranges ofhills or mountains, ranging from onehundred to a thousand feet.
