Continu-ing on the same street south, and the elegantbuilding of the Deseret National Bank greetsour gaze, on the north-east corner of EastTemple and FirstSouth streets. Di-agonally across thestreet from this isthe emporium ofWilliam Jennings,Esq. But it isneedless to enu-m2rate all thebuildings in thecity, be they pub-lic or private.We must not omit, gant private resi-dence and beau-tiful grounds ofMr. Jennings, onthe corner east ofthe depot. Theyare worthy of avisit, and so, also,is the elegant pri-vate residence ofFeramore Little,directly east of theDeseret NationalBank. Scenery Wear the City.—North of the city,Ensign Peak lifts its head, the Mountain ofProphecy, etc. Its crown is oval in shape, andtli mountain, etc, is said to have been seen in avimui, by some of the Mormon dignitaries longbefore it was beheld by the naked eyes of thepresent settlers. The sight from this peak, orOthers Dear at hand, is grand and impressive.I rider your feet lies the City of the Saints, to the west the Great Salt Lake, to the south thevalley of the river Jordan, the settlements alongthe line of the railroad, and the mountains oneither side. Though the way to the summit re-quires a little toil, and will expand ones lungs tothe fullest extent, yet the reward, when once thesummit is reached, will amply pay for all thetoil it has cost.
