Description
English: From left to right are a Private (gunner) Cpl (commander) and a Private, Driver of a Jackal vehicle.

Members of 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment (2 R Anglian) give an insight into the capabilities of the JACKAL vehicle and their roles within the team.

The JACKAL is a Mobility Weapon Mounted Installation Kit (MWMIK).

The main role of the vehicle in the British Army is deep battle-space reconnaissance, rapid assault and fire support Ð roles where mobility, endurance and manoeuvrability are important. There are three main weapon systems that can be mounted to the JACKAL vehicle. General Purpose Machine Gun (both on the main weapon mount and by the Commander seat), Heavy Machine Gun and Grenade Machine Gun.

A JACKAL crew consists of a Driver, Gunner, and Commander. The Gunner is responsible for firing the weapon system attached to the main weapon mount and also for providing 360¡ observations. The Driver is responsible for controlling the vehicle as well as basic maintenance and the Commander is responsible for the vehicle, the crew and communications back to the chain of command.

Elements of 2 R Anglian are trained in proficient use of the JACKAL MWMIK and will be using this capability during future deployments.
