d,still out of his own pocket, hired ateacher. He has now a parochial schoolof 200 children besides the Sunday-school, and has only recently asked forhelp. This tale, though unique in theamount of self-sacrifice, has more thanone analogy in spirit and in effort. The third answer is the fact that threeministers from other bodies have comeinto the Church with their congrega-tions, and have served over two yearswithout pay, though they have hadoffers of larger salaries if they would re-turn to their former allegiance. Thisincident is illustrative of a devotion tothe Church which is characteristic of alarge number of our people. The fourth answer is that the Negrocommunicants of the Diocese of Georgia,numbering 696, contributed during theyear 1908-1909 $3,829.91 for Churchpurposes; and the 799 parochial and in-dustrial school students contributed fortheir own education $3,395.40, making atotal contribution from the colored con-stituency of the Church in the Dioceseof Georgia of $7,225.31.
