SEMI-CONVERTIBLE CAR FOR SYRACUSE The windows of the car shown in the accompanying illus-tration are all in their lowered position, but, as is well known,this type of car has roof pockets into which the sashes may be AUTOGRAPHIC REGISTER FOR TRAIN ORDERS fits into the telephone despatching system of an interurbanrailway. The Egry Autographic Register Company, of Dayton,Ohio, has constructed for this work a registerwhich it terms the Despatcher. By usingthis register the conductor or motorman isprovided with a train order blank ready forinstant use. The device, which is shown inthe accompanying illustration, is constructedof finely finished metal and is of excellentworkmanship. It is arranged to carry theorders in triplicate, so that one may be givento the conductor, another to the motorman,and the third retained under lock and key.This last copy is not accessible to anyone savethe authorized official of the railway whotakes the record for auditing purposes fromthe receptacle.
