ns. wide between the inside col-umns and accommodates five tracks in thefront half of the car house and four in therear half of the structure, which containsthe pits. The heights from the floor to thelower chords of the roof trusses vary from)8 ft. to 19 ft., owing to the grade of thelloor. The foundations for the walls areof concrete and project 4 ins. above grade,the walls themselves being of brick. Theroof is supported on brick piers 21 ins. x24 ins., and the space between piersconsists of an 8-in.- curtain wall. This wallis carried up 2 ft. above the roof and cappedwith a tiled coping for fire protection. Theroof and the walls of this structure to within4 ft. of the floor are painted white, the restof the walls being finished in black. The footings, foundation walls, pit walls, pit piers, floors inthe pit section and the stock and oil rooms are made of con-crete. The mi.xture used for the foundation and floors in therear half of the car house and that portion of the building walls
