The thing that stands out in thiswork of shipping is that a great mass ofsupplies is being sent abroad by smallcommittees which have learned to usethe shipping facilities of the three largecommittees. These same agencies, andthe committees for Germany, Serbia, Ar-menia, and Poland, and the Jewishpeople, also serve as central agenciesfrom which money may be forwarded.In cases where this is done, the moneyis used, if possible, for purchasing sup-plies within the country to be benefited. Many committees have also learned touse the purchasing facilities of thelarger committees. This is done in twoways. Any committee may purchase atcost, from the clearing house materialswhich may be made up, by their ownworkers, into clothing or hospital sup-plies.
