The Hamilton (Ont.) B. C.s annual racemeet on August 14, furnished sport for 1,800spectators. Hyslop, the Canadian champion,though not thoroughly recovered from the ill-ness that made him unfit for the Chicagoevents, took part in several of the races, andwon the half-mile flying start and the one mileopen. In the first heat of the quarter-mileopen race, flying start, W. Nicholls, of theHamilton Club, reduced the Canadian recordfrom 35 to 34 2-5S., and in the second heat L.D. Robertson, of the Atheneums, cut anotherfifth of a second off. Nicholls beat Robert-son in the third heat. In the half-mile handi-cap, R. Miller, of Hamilton, was fouled at thefinish by C. C. Harbottle, of the Torontos,Millers wheel collapsing and sending him onhis head on the asphalt track. He receivednasty cuts about the face and some bad bodybruises. One MILE NOVICE—First Heat: 1, F.
