OUTER AVALL OF CRACOW. ENTERING RUSSIA. 41 delay inadvisable. The commissioner said he would bi-ing them a photo-graph of the spot, and with this consolation the young man dismissed fromhis mind the idea of the sketch. All retired early, as they intended taking the morning train for theRussian frontier, and thence to Warsaw. They were up in good season,and at the appointed time the train carried them out of the ancient capi-tal of Poland. At Granitsa, the frontier station, they had a halt of nearly two hours.Their passports were carefully examined by the Russian officials, whiletheir trunks underwent a vigorous overhauling. The passports proved tobe entirely in order, and there was no trouble witli them. The officialswere particularly polite to the American trio, and said they were alwayspleased to welcome Americans to the Empire. They were less courteousto an Englishman who arrived by the same train, and the Doctor said itwas evident that the Crimean warhad not been entirely forgotte
