The placenta may remain attached to the tube or escape with thefoetus between the layers of the broad ligament and become attachedto any of the raw surfaces. The growth of the placenta subse-quent to the death of the foetus is the probable cause. The lowerthe attachment of the placenta the greater the hemorrhage, andhence the greater liability of destroying the life of the foetus.
