Retroposition of the Uterus. The uterus is drawn backward, intoretroposition by peritoneal bands of adhesions extending from thesupravaginal portion of the cervix to the sacrum. FIG. 2.

Menstrual irregulaxities are common, and usually take the formof an increase in the menstrual flow. This is explained by thepassive congestion of the uterus. Extreme ansemia may resultfrom the loss of menstrual blood. The menopause may be delayedbecause of the passive congestion. During pregnancy and theperiod of lactation occasional hemorrhage can be similarly accountedfor. 2. The habit of abortion is in many instances explained by theuterine congestion. 3.
