This species should be kept in a hot and humid stove during the growingseason, and have plenty of water. When dormant it ought to be placed in acooler and dryer house. The generic name, Odontoglossum, is derived from obovs, a tooth, and ykaxraa,a tongue, alluding probably to the crest of the labellum. The specific name,Cor datum, refers to the heart-shaped form of the labellum.
