n. Sir Oliver. The nunnery was left un-altered, and upon its south-east side an Elizabethanmanor-house was gradually built. This jutted out ^ Bridges, Northafiiptotishire, ii. 349. It was from these Burdons that SirEdward Mountagn bought Boughton. 2 The following list of Prioresses is compiled from the Charters and Rolls inthe British Museum : Agnes ; Emma de Bideford ; Elena de Walsche (i.e.,Ellen Wells), fl. 1275; Alice de Barewyck, fl. 1312 ; Isabella, fl. 1348;Anna, fl. 1353; Joan Tychemers, fl. 1365-1389 ; Margaret Cave, fl. 1412 ;Anne Brynkley, fl. 1425-1447 ; Margaret Lyle, fl. 1452 ; Elizabeth Brandon,fl. 1455-1481 ; Alice Wylton, fl. 1509-1535. The dates are taken from leas es,etc. ; Elizabeth Brandon is the only Prioress whose exact date of installationis recorded. ^ Noble, Memoirs of the Protectoral House of Cromwell, dedicated to thefourth Earl of Sandwich (edition of 1787). The footnotes in Nobles bookindicate the contents of many deeds which were in the Earls possession.
