the School of Medicine had already de-termined to sever their connection withthe School. Almost every departmentneeded reorganization in its personnel,improved, indeed radical, changes inphysical facility, and decided increase inbudget. The situation was expressed inpart at least by the cartoon prepared inthe spring of 1920. THE STUDENT BODY At the beginning of the 108th academicsession in September, 1920, for the firsttime in many years, the number of ap-plicants for admission to the School farexceeded the available positions : 56 candi-dates were selected from approximately200 applicants. The following year 56students were selected from 450 appli-cants. The present indications are thatthis situation will continue. In definitely limiting the number ofstudents admitted each year, the Schoolof Medicine has adopted a policy whichresults in the most favorable conditionspossible for the student.
