Insome respects, however, it is more applicable tothe elephant, while in others it is equally so toboth animals. Hence the term behemoth, takenintensively (for in some places it is admitted todesignate cattle in general), may be assumed tobe a poetical personification of the great Pachy-dermata, or even Herbivora, wherein the ideaof hippopotamus is predominant.
