Her jiaieiits, L- uiulniin and ^lelissa Coleman,who were among the oldest settlers of that city, believed in higher educa-and after their daughters gradnation from gramnier school at the ageof 17, sent her to High School to complete lier edncation. Ill healthhowever, made it necessary to leave school in her third year and seekn change of climate. Going to Missnnri, she snccessfnlly tanght schoolin Colnmbia, Meica, Shelbyville and several other towns. Mrs. McClain has always been active in religions, fraternal and so-cial life.
