These establishments are very numer-ous, the higher levels of the town being almost exclu-sively occupied by them. The main public road fromthe turnpike in the valley where the Midland Railwaystation is situated, is both tortuous, narrow and very steep.It is over this road that most of the traffic is conveyed,both passenger and goods. When it is mentioned thatin a distance of 2,310 ftet this road rises 300 feet, it willbe readily understood that the invalid who could stroll Drawing in the Cable.Entrance to Car House. M. I. C.
