The slotis similar to a cable slot,and is placed near theupper left hand cornerof the large conduit.Near the bottom of theopposite side of conduitis laid a rail, which car-ries the conductor. Acontinuous metal shield,or partition dependsfrom the right handedge of slot to a pointabout one inch from bot-tom of conduit, prevent-ing any direct entranceof moisture from slot toconductor. Two car-riage rails, placed op-posite, one at top andbottom of conduit andbetween partition shield and conductor rail serve as guidesfor the trolley carriage. The conductor rail is a metaltube resting on glass insulators, and, with the conductor,is provided with expansion joints, contrived to alwayspresent a perfectly smooth upper surface to the trolley,thus obviating all sparking.
