There was not time to stop,so the quick witted motorman snatched a broom whichwas on the platform and reaching out with it pushed theold lady to one side knocking her four feet. LORD BALTIMORE BEARING TRUCKS. HONESTY OF PURPOSE NOT ENOUGH. Realizing the demand that is beginning to arise forstrong, simple, easy riding swivel trucks for high speedinterurban roads, we show in the accompanying engrav-ings, two beautiful trucks, of excellent mechanical design,produced by the Baltimore Car Wheel Company, for afaster and heavier service. These trucks are made witheither fixed or swing body bolsters, the heavier onesusing journals 8 inches by 2% inches, both have many ofthe valuable features of the well-known Lord Baltimore.The weight of car body and load is supported by halfelliptic springs, flexibly hung from the truck frames, allcushioned by volute springs between axle boxes andpedestals. The entire space between axles and sideframes is available for motors, the bolsters being aboveand resting directly upon half elliptic body springs.
