A description of the general plan under which this com-pany operates, was gi\en in our July issue, last, and it iswith pleasure that we are able this month to record, thenearly completed results of what was at that time onlyoutlined on paper. They are placed at intervals of every 4 feet, and at e\er3-25th yoke, a 6 foot catch basin drains into the sewer. Theconduit is not as deep as that ordinarily used in cableconstruction; being but 20 inches, and the sides of theconduit are made of iron plates, which extend from oneyoke to the other. The bottom of the conduit is entirelyclear; the trolley wires of which there are two, beingplaced directly under the slot rail, and protected by a qshaped rail in which the wire is suspended and insulated,and which is held in a jaw fastened to each yoke. LOVE ELECTRIC RAILWAY—LAYING THE CONDUIT. The line was formerly operated by horses, and is asingle track loop, i J^ miles in length. It starts fromLincoln and Fullerton avenues, runs west on Fullertonavenue to Racine, then south on Racine to Webster, easton Webster to Halsted, and finally north on Halsted tothe starting point on Fullerton avenue. When in opera-tion it will take trailers which are dropped on the LincolnAvenue Cable line, and haul them around this loop backto the cable lines again. As will be seen by the accompanying illustration, thetrack construction is quite similar to that of the cable road.The yokes are of cast iron, and weight 350 pounds each. the negative current, so that there is no passage of cur-rent to and from the power station, other than throughthe medium of these conductors. The track rail is aJohnson, 78 pound girder, and the slot rail weight 85pounds to the yard. On curves 100 pound Johnson railis used. There are no feeder wires, other than the twoabo
