y equipped this plant will constitute one of the finest Street railway shops in the country. We are indebted to Capt. McCulloch, general manager, and Mr. Richard McCulloch, assistant general manager, for data and the accompanying drawings. The plant is in charge of Mr M OBrien, master mechanic, who. being enameled brick of dark color. The rooms are about 40 ft.high, well lighted and ventilated and very attractive in appearance.>rs of both rooms are on the same level and are of cement.I lie roof is of terra colta tile and is supported by steel trusses. Thechimney, built by the .\lphons Custodis Chimney ConstructionCo., of Chicago, is 150 ft. high and has an S-1t. Hue. The brick usedin the construction are curved to a radius from the center of thechimney, the radii changing at each 10 ft. in height. Power is generated for operating the shops only, but by suitable ncv switches may be turned onto the car lines, or, power from the lines may be used for operating the shops. The equipment

The general view shown herewith is of the southwest corner ofthe shops at 78th St. and Vincenncs Road. The shops extend eastto Wentworth Ave., and along Wentworth Ave. to 77th St., occu-pying the whole block excepting a space at the northwest cornerwhich is reserved for an additional car house. The buildings are all substantially constructed of red brick withstructural work of steel and timber, and are of the mimodern style; they are of pleasing appearance and well adapted tothe purposes for which they were built. The plan of thishows the general arrangement of the shop buildings and their rcla- of the steam plant includes the latest improvements and securesutmost economy of operation.
