Behind the courtoverlooked by this colo.ssal statue lay a second court, surrounded by a row ofsquare pillars, each having a figure of Osiris attached to it. The god isrepresented as a mummy, the swathings throwing the body and limbs intorelief. His hands are freed from the bandages and are crossed on the breast,ixnd hold respectively the flail and crook; the smiling face is surmounted by an■enormous head-dress. The sanctuary with the buildings attached to it hasperished, but enormous brick structures extend round the ruins, forming anenclosure of storehouses.
