ts, natural curiosities or wonders withinsaid Park, and their retention in their naturalcondition. The Secretary may, in his discretion, grantleases for building purposes, for terms notexceeding ten years, of small parcels of ground,at such places in said Park as shall require theerection of buildings for the accommodation ofvisitors; all of the proceeds of said leases, andall other revenue that may be derived from anysource connected with said Park, to be expendedunder his direction in the management of thesame and the construction of roads and bridle-paths, and shall provide against the wantondestruction of the fish and game found withinsaid Park and against their capture or destruc-tion for the purpose of merchandise or profit.He shall also cause all persons trespassing uponthe same after the passage of this act to beremoved therefrom, and generally shall beauthorized to take all such measures as shall benecessary or proper to fully carry out the objectsand purposes of this act. 58

True, there is grandeur inits mountain peaks and walls and there is asuggestion of awful power in its torrents thatsweep unhindered over stupendous cliffs, butnone the less it is beauty that makes the pre-dominant impression on the beholder. Here isa world elysian in this peaceful valley with itsmarvelous Mirror Lake, its green and crystalriver, its sparkling brooks, its forests of un-matched majesty and its riot of wild flowers,shut in by towering mountains which fling theirfretted spires and sullen ramparts against aheaven as blue as that of Italy itself.
