My brother, who meanwhile had takenhis family to Los Angeles, sent very encouraging reportsregarding some of the films. Among the Canyon visitors who came down to inspectthe results of our trip were Thomas Moran, the famousartist, with his daughter, Miss Ruth, whose interest wasmore than casual. Thomas Morans name, more than anyother, with the possible exception of Major Powells, isto be associated with the Grand Canyon. It was hispainting which hangs in the capital at Washington thatfirst acquainted the American public with the wondersof the Canyon.
