lackhaw (Viburnum prunifolium) and Austrian pine. Upon the slope of the hill, back of the Austrianpine you will find some more English walnuts. Fur-ther on, along the Walk, and back on the slope is afine Japan pagoda tree with locust-like foliage. Asyou round the turn of the Walk to go under the Arch(Cleft Ridge Span) a remarkable tree of spreadinghabit and dwarf umbrella form meets you. It is veryconspicuous with its wide-reaching drooping branches. This is the Camperdown elm and is exceedinglypicturesque in summer or winter. Its leaf with itslong points and rough surface marks its kinship withthe Scotch elm (Ulmus montana). Just beyond theCamperdown, near the Arch, are masses of Taxiishaccata, var. elegantissinia (variegated English yew),beautiful sights in early June when their new shootsof golden-yellow tuft out all over them. Just as yougo under the Arch look up on your right and see ahandsome Bhotan pine hanging its tassels high upon the bank. This brings us to the Flower Garden.
