English: U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Gary J. Volesky, right, the commanding general of the 101st Airborne Division, speaks with Air Force Lt. Col. Bruce Bancroft, left, and Air Force Col. David Mounkes, both with the 123rd Contingency Response Group, Kentucky Air National Guard, Oct. 18, 2014, during a tour of the joint operations center for Joint Task Force-Port Opening Senegal at Léopold Sédar Senghor International Airport in Dakar, Senegal. The task force was funneling humanitarian supplies and military support into West Africa as part of Operation United Assistance, a Department of Defense operation to provide command and control, logistics, training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for International Development-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in West African nations. Volesky was to serve as the commander of the operation's joint forces command, headquartered in Liberia. |
