English: Philippine Marine Pfc. John Richie Eroy, left, is transported alongside U.S. and Philippine Marines on a MV-22B Osprey assigned to Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 262, Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force, to an insertion point during Balikatan 16, at Crow Valley, Philippines, April 14, 2016. After inserting into Crow Valley, the combined forces assaulted a notional enemy force “shoulder-to-shoulder” while close air support was provided from the skies. Balikatan is an annual bilateral training exercise that strengthens the Philippine-U.S. alliance and focuses on a variety of missions in response to conflict and crises throughout the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
