DescriptionUSNS Carl Brashear in Djibouti 120509-F-GA223-001.jpg |
English: USNS Carl Brashear docks at port here May 9. U.S. military personnel provided a tour of the ship to Combined Joint Task Force - Horn of Africa multinational coalition officers to help them get a better understanding of U.S. Navy operations. Brashear is a Lewis and Clark-class auxiliary dry cargo ship named in honor of U.S. Navy Master Chief Petty Officer Carl M. Brashear, the first African-American master diver and first U.S. Navy diver to be restored to full active-duty service as an amputee. CJTF-HOA coalition officers work alongside their U.S. counterparts at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, to foster relations with their international partners and East African nations. |
