DescriptionUSS Ronald Reagan activity 160310-N-OI810-199.jpg |
English: 160310-N-OI810-199 YOKOSUKA, Japan (March 10, 2016) Air Traffic Controller 2nd Class Brandi Schow, from San Antonio, Texas poses for a photograph and reflects upon the impact Nancy Reagan left on her aboard the U.S. Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). "The work and life of Nancy Reagan affected me from the time I was a child, throughout my youth and has directly influenced me as a woman. As an advocate for the D.A.R.E. program, and Mrs. Reagan's campaign toward Alzheimers research following President Reagan's diagnosis, she had a profound impact on my life decisions throughout the years. Growing up in a family directly affected by drug and alcohol abuse, the D.A.R.E. program resonated with me and was a huge part of why I chose not to follow suit. Also, Mrs. Reagan's support for Alzheimer's disease research influenced me to volunteer at local retirement homes as a teenager. This ultimately sparked my passion for the psychology field and began my ambition to obtain a doctorate in psychology."
