English: U.S. Army Sgt. Jesse Untalan, video broadcaster and California native, U.S. Pacific Army Command, scans the wall of names at the Capas National Shrine, a living memorial to the estimated 60,600 Filipinos and 9,900 Americans who endured the Bataan death march, Capas, Tarlac Province, Philippines, from April 9-15, 1942. Untalan participated in Balikatan 2013, an annual military exercise in the Philippines focused on interoperability between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. in build military-to-military relations and cooperation. Untalan's great-grandfather, Pedro Untalan, a former major in the U.S. Army endured the Bataan death march during World War II. The shrine was built as a memorial to recognize Filipino and American Soldiers sacrifices at Camp O'Donnell and the Bataan death march. (U.S. Air Force photo/Tech. Sgt. Jerome S. Tayborn)
