Transcript InfoField | Up the Harbour, Whitby. Two stone Jetties protect the harbour's mouth, and a second harbour has been made for the use of colliers and other vessels taking refuge in stormy weather above the bridge. Here the river Esk widens out into a basin large enough to hold a fleet, though so shallow that it is nearly dry at low tide. |
