English: Sad remains of Ballyellis House, Carnew, Co. Wexford (N.B. apparently there was a Ballyellis House in Cork also).
Wondering what happened to this house and its family, and hoping that it was a substantial enough event or series of events to have left some trace that we can find. If this photograph had been taken in or after the early 1920s, I might have thought it had fallen prey to a purge of Big Houses, but this one could have been taken no later than 1914... Date: Circa 1900?? NLI Ref.: L_CAB_07253 |
