The vestibule is connectedwith a large, sumptuously decorated saloon, the ceiling beingpainted by Paliotti with the Four Seasons. To the right isthe house chapel, in Byzantine style; to the left, the dining-room, in the character of the Italian Renaissance; adjoining,the smoking-room, in Pompeian style. A marble stair-case,with bronze balustrade, leads to the second story, where theapartments of the Empress are situated. The central saloonopens on the Centaur terrace, and is decorated in the Empirestyle with frescoes of Aurora on the ceiling, painted by Paliot-ti.
