IN NORRIS GEYSER BASIN TEA KETTLE Some years since the United States Fish Commission placeddifferent varieties of fish in various waters of the park. The re-sults have been such that, coupled with the fine fishing foundbefore that time in Yellowstone lake and river, the streams innearly all portions of the reserve now teem with trout of numerousspecies, grayling, brook trout, Loch Leven,etc., making this region the finest troutpark in the world. That the Government still takes an in-terest in this matter is shown by the factthat during the year 1905 it planted invarious lakes and streams of the parkmore than 100,000 Brook trout (Salvelinusfontinalis), and nearly 400,000 fry of Salmodark it. In the region of Mammoth Hot Springs,the ordinary Rocky Mountain trout (Salmomykiss) are found in the Yellowstone riverat Yankee Jims canon, and Rainbow trout(Salmo iriaeus) and Eastern Brook trout(Salvelinns fontinalis) in the Gardinerriver and tributaries.
