Summary
editDescriptionYucatan Peninsula captured by Envisat ESA221765.tiff |
English: Envisat captures the northern part of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula, a northeastern projection of Central America that is located between the Gulf of Mexico to the west and the Caribbean Sea to the east. Famous as the site of the asteroid impact that killed the dinosaurs, the Yucatan Peninsula was once home to the Mayan civilisation.
Image acquired 26 October 2007 by the MERIS (Medium Resolution Imaging Spectrometer) instrument aboard ESA’s Envisat satellite. |
