Token accounting

edit

I think I know where these accounting tokens are in the Louvre. There are also globular clay envelopes nearby. I'll try to go to the museum next week. Don't hesitate to drop me a reminder if I forget. Jastrow (Λέγετε) 22:28, 2 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

One picture of the tokens and one of the clay envelopes would be ideal. --Gavin Collins (talk) 09:58, 3 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Here you are: two pictures of accounting tokens (File:Clay accounting tokens Susa Louvre n1.jpg & File:Clay accounting tokens Susa Louvre n2.jpg) and one picture of a globular envelope with its tokens (File:Accountancy clay envelope Louvre Sb1932.jpg). As a bonus, I also shot two pictures of economic tablets (File:Economic tablet Susa Louvre Sb3047.jpg & File:Economic tablet Susa Louvre Sb15439.jpg). Perhaps we should gather those pictures in a category? Would category:Ancient accountancy be OK with you? Jastrow (Λέγετε) 21:33, 14 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Quite extraordinary pictures! Many thanks for obtaining these excellent quality images. Following on from your suggestion, I would suggest Category:Ancient accounting records might be a slightly more descriptive category. --Gavin Collins (talk) 01:17, 15 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Sykes-Picot Agreement map

edit

Thank you very much for uploading and nominating this extraordinary (signed) map. Unfortunately, nobody seems to be interested in such historical documents in FPC page, and my vote is useless I'm afraid. Just to show you that you are not alone...--Jebulon (talk) 14:52, 13 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your comments. I guess historical documents don't have the visual impact that real life images have, so that is understandable. However, I have seen other maps feature, so it might be featured one day. --Gavin Collins (talk) 15:35, 13 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

  The Photographer's Barnstar
Hello,

i'm very interessted about the map of Sykse-Picot Agreement, but i cannot download this Map in Full Resolution, in other less resolution i can. But i need full resolution and in my PC it's download the Half of picture of this Map, can you send me the copy of full resolution of Picot-Sykes Map in my personnal Email. Doctordz (talk) 22:36, 19 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Doctordz,

If you can receive the picture by email, you should be able to download the picture from Commons without any difficulty by right clicking on the link "Full resolution" and selecting "Save as". However, if you are unable to display the full size file as it is displayed in Commons, then that might be a symptom that your computer has either insufficient memory (RAM) or that your graphics card is not powerful enough. If your memory or graphics card is not sufficiently powerful to display a file of this size, there would be no point in my sending the file to you, as your computer would not able to open it anyway. --Gavin Collins (talk) 17:06, 19 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
