Thanks for uploading File:Stuttgart 1945 Zerstörung Walter Kittel Zeichnung.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

Warning: unless the permission information is given, the file may be deleted after seven days. Thank you.

Hi, Rosenzweig, here is a previous discussion on identity and context, I did previously get permission from OTRS for an image from Walter Kittel, and experienced contributors suggested I should be OK with future uploads, at the end of the discussion. (And thanks for finding my grandfather's obituary...) — Preceding unsigned comment added by WK Zeichnungen (talk • contribs) 17:56, 31 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

I suggest you write to OTRS again, this time regarding some kind of tag for all your uploads of your grandfather's work. And you should definitely mention the circumstances in the image description of your uploads. Especially the author field should not have your account name, because you are not the author. Use Walter Kittel (1895-1981) instead. And in the permission field, write something to the effect that you, User:WK Zeichnungen, are the heir of Walter Kittel and hold the rights to those images. The copyright situation should be clear to anyone looking at the image description of every file without having to look at further discussions, user pages etc. Regards --Rosenzweig τ 17:27, 2 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
well, OK Rosenzweig. I can see where you are coming from. Thanks for withdrawing the deletion request. The challenge I have is that I felt I got conflicting instructions. I previously (as you saw from the discussion) asked what to do. I had originally started with the user name "Walter Kittel", since he was the author, and I wanted a clear attribution. But I was instructed to change it. I had a user page detailing some of the information you asked, and was instructed to change it. I am flagging this not to complain, but to highlight that I think I am genuinely acting in good faith here. I will write to OTRS, I have updated my user page to highlight the context, and I will use Walter Kittel for author names and see how I can make the copyright situation clearer. Any guidance indeed appreciated. WK Zeichnungen (talk) 20:27, 2 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have now seen how you have re-written author and permission, and I will copy that to the other files over the next days. Thanks. I have also written to OTRS, sending my birth certificate, so that they see the connection. Thanks again for the advice.WK Zeichnungen (talk) 21:32, 2 April 2016 (UTC)Reply
