Yes, I've started the process... :-)

Substitute edit

Hello. Why this template is not substitute? If you want to edit this section from a talk page, you can't. If you dont want subst: at least, you should create a real title for the section. Thanks. ~ bayo or talk 10:02, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

It should be substed from now on. But it was used unsubsted for some time now. A bot should replace all unsubsted instances of the template. I'll ask Multichill about it, whose bot works on Please link images tags. --Slomox (talk) 10:23, 22 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Edit edit

editprotected Can anyone change Category:Astronomy diagrams to Category:Astronomical diagrams please? The category was deleted because it was an incorrectly named duplicate of Category:Astronomical diagrams. Omkar1234 (talk) 07:12, 17 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Done (Not here, but on the respective subpages, where the request should have been placed.) --Mormegil (talk) 20:01, 17 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Section header edit

Editprotected Hello! Please make the header more substitutable:

 • Please move the </noinclude> text to the line of the heading, so that it won't insert a plus newline while substing.
 • Please change the heading to {{<includeonly>safesubst:</includeonly>#if:{}|:{}|}}, so that if file name is provided, it will be the only header, without autotranslate; it makes section linking much easier. It would be also nice if you add a temporary categorization in the header template, beside :{} so that the pages now using it can be substituted and the whole sub-template can be simplified.

@Billinghurst: Please revert your edit. The template should not decide whether or not to add a blank line—if the user substitutes the template to a new section (or even a new page), the blank line is unnecessary and might create huge blank areas on the rendered page. --Tacsipacsi (talk) 15:19, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Blank line was added as its display on Commons: ns pages was corrupting the heading display (== needs to start on a new line to work as a heading).  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:24, 29 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
Then those should be corrected, not this template. Now your edit can be safely reverted. --Tacsipacsi (talk) 16:34, 29 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

broken link edit

Editrequest Hi, there is a broken link in this template: https://tools.wmflabs.org/wikisense/Gallery.php?&wiki=commons.wikimedia.org&img_user_text=gampe. Could somebody correct it? Thank you very much! --Gampe (talk) 20:44, 8 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Question Links to obituary. Shouldn't the link be completely removed? --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 15:52, 8 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Removed Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image. from Template:Please link images/en. We should cleanse any others. Special:PrefixIndex/Template:Please link images/  — billinghurst sDrewth 06:29, 23 January 2017 (UTC)Reply
The other subpages are not protected, and anyhow quite different to the actual EN page, so I removed the editrequest. -- User: Perhelion 21:22, 26 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Real categories edit

Featuring real categories in the message delivered to newbies was a severely ill-conceived idea. Any reasonable person could predict effects like File:Студенты и преподаватели на крыльце Троицкого Ветеринарного Института 1972 год.jpg (histlogsabuse log). That’s why Astronomical diagrams is nowadays polluted much heavier than a typical Commons category of comparable position. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 12:21, 1 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Edit request - category edit

Edit request

Hi. Please remove from the template. I added it to the documentation page (https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template%3APlease_link_images%2Fdoc&type=revision&diff=357165977&oldid=231311848) which is were categories are usually specified.

Thanks, --DannyS712 (talk) 16:49, 5 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

Edit request edit

Edit request Change 'Hello, Please link images!' to 'Hello, please link images!' to correct the capitalization. I.hate.spam.mail.here (talk) 02:18, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

@I.hate.spam.mail.here: That’s just the addressing (using the page name), not an imperative. When used on your talk page, it’d say Hello, I.hate.spam.mail.here! instead, and I’m quite sure people wouldn’t like if their user names were written in lower case. —Tacsipacsi (talk) 10:00, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
Oh! Thanks for clarifying. I thought it says "Hello, please link images!", but the "please link images" was replaced with the username when substituted. I.hate.spam.mail.here (talk) 20:23, 17 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

Tool edit

Long time ago, this template suggested "To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help." CommonSense doesn't work, is there no other tool to suggest instead?--Pạtạfisik 13:55, 12 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Return to "Please link images" page.
