Hi Filipinayzd, I wanted to let you know that I added your "Baby Shark" photos from the WP conference to the Baby Shark page. You should have put them there already! I found another one of the little boy on Flickr. The page is so cute and had been missing photos! I bet you guys had a great time at the conference. I have attended the one in Seoul, South Korea for the past two years. I have to recommend to them that we do "Baby Shark" next time, it looks like you guys had more fun! I added the page for Pinkfong, so it is only right we should sing "Baby Shark". Please let Bel B. know. I first put her name as "Billie bb" which you had named on the file name.....hahaha!

When I am too lazy to think very much I come to Commons to download off Flickr or do categories and stuff. One I have a lot of fun with is [1] to look for different country photos for McDelivery and add them. I see there is no photo for the Phillippines, do you have the delivery there?

Dear member of the Commons Photographers User Group,

I've got a quick update for you, containing three items:

I’d like to invite you to our group’s second Virtual Meeting on Saturday, September 26, 2020. As last time, this meeting will serve as an opportunity to get to know each other better, share learnings, and connect in times of the global COVID-19 pandemic. If you'd like to present, please add your name and the proposed topic to the list on the talk page.
Also, I'd like to start a conversation about how we should be sharing responsibility for the user group going forward. I'd love to get some help when it comes to organizing things and I'm convinced that we can achieve more if a couple of people helped with coordinating stuff.
Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has asked me to spread the word about their latest survey: Universal Code of Conduct Survey. The goal is to create a safer environment on Wikimedia projects and the Foundation gathers feedback prior to coming up with a first draft.

Next Commons Photographers meeting featuring large format photographer Ben Horne edit

Dear member of the Commons Photographers User Group,

I'm happy to invite you to our next virtual meeting on Saturday, March 20, at the usual time. As I mentioned during our last get-together, I'd like to invite external guests every now and then, given that it seems good to expand our view and learn something from someone outside our community.

Our first external guest, Ben Horne, will talk about large format wilderness photography, followed by a question-and-answer session. Ben is maybe one of best known contemporary large format photographers in the United States. On his excursions to national parks, he shoots 8×10 film and talks about his adventures on his YouTube channel which has attracted more than 48,000 followers so far. He is YouTube's first, and longest active landscape photography vlogger and I'm thrilled that he has agreed to join our next meeting and talk about his experiences.

Mabuhay, I am a relatively new contributor and I've had 4 pictures placed on deletion request by User:Mrcl lxmna I noticed your comment on one of the photos "Go ahead, deletist. No need to ask." I am new to this process and I understand that they are more or less valid requests for deletion but is there anything I am supposed to do? Indiscriminate deletion tagging to contributed media without giving information or helping contributors how to retain these is as easy as micro editing. Arguing or proving the worth of these media to stay on Commons is not my cup of tea. No need to tag or leave a message in each file talkpage. Our next virtual meeting will take place on Saturday, August 27. At this point we have two presentations lined up:

Question from the CPUG Board edit

Dear user group member,

I'm writing you to today on behalf of the board of the Commons Photographers User Group. The past year has been a busy one for us. In 2022, we've had more activities than ever before in the history of our group and you'll find an overview on our group's page.

With that being said, 2022 was also a year of learning for the current board members. Most of us hadn't been involved in running the Photographers User Group and we spent quite some time on getting used to our new roles. We all feel it was a steep learning curve.

That's why, at our last board meeting, we decided to ask our members whether they'd be ok with us serving for another year. Extending our board duties to the end of 2023 would allow us to continue the work we've started this year, and to benefit from the knowledge we've built over the past twelve months.

However, in the end, it's up to you and the other members of our group to decide whether such an extension of our board term should be granted. I invite you to voice your opinion on this page:

Wiki Loves Folklore is an international photography contest hosted on Wikimedia Commons to document folklore and intangible cultural heritage from around the world, such as folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, folk activities, folk games, folk cuisine, folk wear, folktales, folk games, folk religion, mythology, and many more.

The campaign invites participants to document photographs, videos, and audios linked to folk culture and fit within the contest's theme. The timeline for the 2023 election will be

September 15 – September 30: Applications for the election committee
October 1 – October 9: Vote for election committee (ideally comprised of three members)
October 10: Election committee starts work
October 20 – November 9: Nomination phase for candidacies
November 10 – December 10: Elections
December 15: Results announced

In the first step we ask you to be part of the election committe. Please add your name on the Election Page.

Flickypedia soft launch and a huge thank you edit

Dear fellow Commons photographer,

I hope this message finds you well. As you might already know, the Flickr Foundation has been busy creating a new Flickr-to-Commons bridge (“Flickypedia”) this year. After a successful demo at the GLAM Wiki Conference in Montevideo, the Flickr Foundation team is now inviting all members of the Commons Photographers User Group to be the first to review their alpha, reporting any technical issues or other feedback via the Flickypedia project talk page.

At the same time, this message is an opportunity for me to thank you for your trust and support over the past couple of years. Since 2017, we've grown into being one of the largest user groups in the Wikimedia universe. I've tremendously enjoyed interacting with all of our members when it came to joint photowalks at Wikimanias, virtual Zoom meetings where we covered a wide variety of photography topics, as well as our annual “Most memorable shot of the year”, among many other events. As I'm not running for an official position in our current board election, this will be my last message on behalf of the user group to you. Thanks for all the happy moments we shared together over the years! I hope you'll continue creating free images for the millions of people we serve through Wikipedia and Commons.

Greetings from the Wiki Loves Folklore International Team! Wiki Loves Folklore is an international photography contest hosted on Wikimedia Commons to document folklore and intangible cultural heritage from around the world, such as folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, folk activities, folk games, folk cuisine, folk wear, folktales, folk games, folk religion, mythology, and many more.

The campaign invites participants to document photographs, videos, and audios linked to folk culture and fit within the contest's theme. Through this campaign, you may become a part of a community dedicated to preserving our intangible culture, which has been brought and passed down for thousands of years.

How can I Contribute?

The dates for the submission in the photography contest on Wikimedia Commons are from 1 February 2024 through 31 March 2024. Probably you are wondering how you can take part. It’s simple: grab a camera, record an image, video or audio under the folklore theme and start uploading or Click on Upload Now Icon which is available on right side of Wiki Loves Folklore 2024.
