Hi, I'm wondering, how did you get so close for this picture (really good quality!)? I have similar equipment and the closest I could get was for this picture (at 300mm). I had to sneak around a tree and take the shot pretty quickly as he flew away as soon as he saw me. You must have been even closer than I was, so maybe you were 10m away? --Dori - Talk 15:11, 16 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
That was large luck. This young animal was not shy at all, and sat for several minutes in a peopled municipal park. By the way I also like your picture very much.

Fehlbestimmung Libelle edit

Christiansen (talk) 11:21, 30 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Wieder fragliche Heidelibelle (?) edit

--Loz (talk) 10:37, 23 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, Loz!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Biodiversity Photo - route edit

Hello L. B. Tettenborn

My name is Rita Neves. I work in Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, that is a Public Organism in Portugal. Actually, we are working on a road book of Biodiversity of Lisbon, for which we are going to produce a panel and a brochure. We found your photos on Wikimedia Commons and liked specially one of them very much, so we would like to know if you could allow us to use your photos, for free, to publish on this project, knowing that the brochure of will be for free distribution to everyone. The photo we are considering to use are the following:

Troglodytes_troglodytes http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Troglodytes_troglodytes%28loz%29.jpg

The brochure will have four brackets. - Broochura a pocket to take the route - A brochure to present the day of inauguration

- Schedules for species identification
- Panels that will be fixed in the Land

As i said the Free Access will be everything :)

If you are the author and provide us that photo, we will refer your name in the bibliografy and we need to know what´s the name you want on the bibliography? L. B. Tettenborn ? If it´s possible please respond to ritasoraia2001@hotmail.com or rita.neves@cm-lisboa.pt or here on Wikimedia.

Thank you very much. Our best regards

Comments   Comment The butterfly is captured very well, but the blurry rock in front is a bit disturbing. Maybe crop it more from the right? --Quartl 12:41, 9 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
  Done I cropped it to a square. Better now?--Loz 13:59, 9 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
Better, but the crop at the left side is a bit tight now, a bit more room there and I can support. --Quartl 14:57, 9 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Palloptera muliebris edit

Hi Loz, I renamed your file as requested, and created the category (it was a redlink). I've putted the Category:Palloptera muliebris under the Category:Pallopteridae but i'm not a specialist, may be you can confirm me this is ok. Have a nice day. PierreSelim (talk) 08:36, 2 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

hey, thank you, although I'm not a specialist too, the category Pallopteridae is properly in any case. --Loz (talk) 20:44, 3 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Picture of the Year voting round 1 open edit

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2012 Picture of the Year competition is now open. We're interested in your opinion as to which images qualify to be the Picture of the Year for 2012. Voting is open to established Wikimedia users who meet the following criteria:

  1. Users must have an account, at any Wikimedia project, which was registered before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC].
  2. This user account must have more than 75 edits on any single Wikimedia project before Tue, 01 Jan 2013 00:00:00 +0000 [UTC]. Please check your account eligibility at the POTY 2012 Contest Eligibility tool.
  3. Users must vote with an account meeting the above requirements either on Commons or another SUL-related Wikimedia project (for other Wikimedia projects, the account must be attached to the user's Commons account through SUL).

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. From professional animal and plant shots to breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historically relevant images, images portraying the world's best architecture, maps, emblems, diagrams created with the most modern technology, and impressive human portraits, Commons features pictures of all flavors.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topic categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you can vote for as many images as you like. The first round category winners and the top ten overall will then make it to the final. In the final round, when a limited number of images are left, you must decide on the one image that you want to become the Picture of the Year.

To see the candidate images just go to the POTY 2012 page on Wikimedia Commons

Wikimedia Commons celebrates our featured images of 2012 with this contest. Your votes decide the Picture of the Year, so remember to vote in the first round by January 30, 2013.

Thanks,
the Wikimedia Commons Picture of the Year committee

Autopatrol given edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 20:36, 16 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
