Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki - it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons. You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your Graphics abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal Gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page, write this: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], it makes this: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper
Made a mistake?
  • Did you want to rename or move a file? Simply upload the file again and mark the old one like this: {{bad name|Correct name}}
  • For more information read the full Deletion guidelines

Hello Sven Rosborn!

Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to Commons should be useful to all users of Wikimedia projects. This is possible only if the images can be found by other people.

To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should put the images into appropriate topic pages, categories, optionally galleries, or both of them (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help.

You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files in this gallery.

The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There are a large number of completely unsorted images on Commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do!

Thank you. BotMultichillT (talk) 10:19, 28 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I dont understand the titel: "Please link images". All my pictures are linked to articles in the swedish version of Wikipedia.Sven Rosborn (talk) 21:21, 6 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I think the person meant to link the Categories of the images which you have done, I just put the Lund archives in Category:Lund, Sweden. I also removed the media without category for December 2nd as you had already placed them in Categories. LInks to Swedish and other wikis don't usually show up on the image so it appears that they are not linked. I wish Commons was a more complete entitiy but it still has things to be worked out. Undeletion edit

Hej!

Hälsningar, /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 07:57, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, den viktigaste bilden var åtminstonne fixad. /Lokal_Profil 00:42, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello Sven,I think I've solved the mistery behind your picture:

from:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Grooves_(archaeology)

Sharpening wall

I saw a limestone wall in the old part of Sutton Coldfield that had been used to sharpen swords when the town was involved in the English civil war. The marks look a lot like the Gotland stone marks pictured in this article.Brutaldeluxe (talk) 14:12, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

It would be great if you could provide a picture of them :).--Berig (talk) 14:36, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutton_Coldfield It's on wikipedia and I was wrong! They're from the 15th century and: "Butts were constructed across the town for archery training, and marks can still be seen in the sandstone wall on 3 Coleshill Street where archers sharpened their arrows." This would also explain the other smaller marks found elsewhere. We think of Vikings as warriors, but naturally they also hunted animals or just shot arrows for training purpose, a training arrow would have no metal point and it would only need to be rubbed against a soft stone to sharpen it. Mistery solved! Unfortunately I cannot find any pictures online, but I have relatives in Sutton Coldfield, perhaps they could provide a picture. Or alternatively put a request on the Sutton Coldfield page, I don't know how to do that though. Glad you asked, Berig, I would never have looked.Brutaldeluxe (talk) 02:11, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Hope you like the idea. Brutaldeluxe (talk) 02:46, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Goksholm Sweden 2.jpg edit

Hi, I would like to know where exactly this pic was shot. The file name says Göksholm but the can be found in the page about Engelbrektsholmen, an islet in Hjälmaren, near Göksholm. I'm asking this because HotCat keeps categorizing it in Category:Peninsulas of Sweden instead of Category:Islands of Sweden, the right place if it was really shot on the islet. In this case, it would be sensible to rename it Engelbrektsholmen_(Göksholm)_Sweden.jpg or something similar, in order to avoid misplacements. Best regards.--Carnby (talk) 17:24, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi, The coordinates at Google Earth is: 59°16'41.76"N, 15°34'23.62"O On all maps in Sweden its called "Engelbreksholmen = Engelbrekt´s islet". For 700 years ago it was a small islet. Nowadays however it is connected to the land and there is no water anymore. Its ok to change the file name.--83.249.76.118 20:27, 26 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

So HotCat was right: Engelbreksholmen it is now actually a peninsula. Was this pic also taken at Engelbreksholmen? Tack!:).--Carnby (talk) 06:08, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it is the monument on the spot where the murder of Engelbrecht took place. --Sven Rosborn (talk) 11:10, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Thanks for uploading File:Smorhoga museum Sweden.jpg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

Om en byggnad i Malmö edit

Hej Sven.

Arkitekter var F. Sundbärg & A. Arwidius. --Sven Rosborn (talk) 16:45, 23 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello Sven Rosborn. Thank you for this nice photo. Can you please specify where you have taken it, in which Museum and if you have more details available about it. Tank you --Bullenwächter (talk) 17:28, 13 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi, The photo was taken at the "Medeltidsmuseet" in Stockholm. The cannon is one of three cannons from a ship found in Stockholm. The ship is called the "Riddarholmsskeppet" and you find an article on the Swedish Wikipedia: https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Riddarholmsskeppet The date of the ship is located to 1520-1540. In the article it says late 1400's but it can not be right because the ship is dated by timber analysis (dendrochronology. --Sven Rosborn (talk) 18:07, 13 August 2014 (UTC))Reply

--Sven Rosborn (talk) 19:06, 26 October 2015 (UTC)Reply
Efter det går man in på bilden sida, klickar på texten "Upload a new version of this file" som syns strax under sektionen "File history".

Vinnarbilden i Wiki Loves Earth!

Hej!

(For information in English, see Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in Sweden or other participating countries.)

/Eric Luth (WMSE) (talk) 14:26, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
