  • Specifically talking about photographing older people, he said you should get characteristic attitudes - which meant to use longer shots that showed more of the body; try to get them into comfortable positions - bringing their own chair to the photography studio or using their home was recommended over standard studio sets; think about matching their clothing to backgrounds if you are in the studio - don't photograph a farmer in a mansion background and so on; consider a longer exposure so that you get characteristic facial expressions instead of frozen ones; and don't try to retouch away all the wrinkles just to suit their vanity.
