- No, but I can not conceive so bloody killings --LivioAndronico talk 21:16, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry for bothering you again, but that’s not the point here. We judge images, we do neither judge the places nor activities shown in them. And I am pretty sure there’s no cruelty in this, the animal being killed very quickly. --Kreuzschnabel 05:20, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- We are here to judge images? by really? But please ..... who should be in favor of this kind of images for me has something wrong. Killed quickly? Cut your throat and see how you will be relieved of a quick death, a wonder so. Lothar Spurzem did a lot better than me. Quick and easy.--LivioAndronico talk 08:59, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- LivioAndronico and Spurzem: Everyday countless livestock animals are slaughtered to be used for food. Why do you think this goat is slaughtered particularly more cruel than all the other animals? And why the human projection as if the goat had the same sense of fear, consciousness, etc. as humans. And even if so, this is a documentary photo of how it is done in a particular location. Please take a moment to put aside you own cultural values for a moment and consider that. The nomination is valuable and encyclopedic and and to my knowledge, the image series by The Photographer is the only we have of goat slaughtering and thus very unique. I see children participate in the process in the image series. I think it is good for them to see where food comes from. Remember: Valuable does not mean beautiful. We have FPs, which are orders of magnitude more disturbing than this nomination IMO, such as this or this. -- Slaunger (talk) 21:45, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

- I don't know Slaunger in which country outfits but in Italy (My country) are not slaughtered and waiting for their blood come out of my throat. This is a picture unnecessary and cruel. The photos that you posted have historical value and don't think that are useful for this discussion. --LivioAndronico talk 21:54, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- I must disappoint you LivioAndronico, even in Italy must at slaughter the blood drooling, otherwise it would not be meat for human consumption. The blood is collected and re-used. Even in Italy. The shafts - as in this case - is even better method to remove as much blood from the body. This method is not at all more brutal than other methods of killing animals. Probably even the opposite. The modern slaughtering industry is much more brutal than this form. --Hubertl (talk) 05:37, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- I take it Hubertl do not know that in Italy it is forbidden to slaughter animals in the house (except for some religious holidays that must be authorized)"Il Regolamento (CE) 1099/2009 (G.U. dell'Unione Europea n. 303 del 18/11/2009) del 24 settembre 2009 "relativo alla protezione degli animali durante l’abbattimento" ha abrogato la direttiva 93/119/CE ed è applicabile dal 1º gennaio 2013.", but must be brought to the slaughter, and shot in the head. The pudding is then collected with the dead animal. Inquire before thanks.--LivioAndronico talk 15:41, 28 November 2014 (UTC)

- However Slaunger if you find seven people who will vote will be FP, I stand by my idea and you yours. The world is beautiful because it is varied --LivioAndronico talk 21:59, 25 November 2014 (UTC)

- Question What about this image is supposed to be featurable? I see nothing special in, for instance, composition or lighting. --Kreuzschnabel 21:11, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose Per LivioAndronico and Hubertl --Jacek Halicki (talk) 21:15, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- Neutral Much more valuable than most nominations for me. And FPs do not have to be pleasant for all to look at - it depends a lot on cultural background and is not an absolute. Some technical objections though: The crop of the people surrounding the goat is not good, light is not good on main subject and some disturbing elements in the background. And for those thinking it is gross or cruel: I think the sudden death of the goat is much less cruel than feeding household pets to overweight, and let them live unnaturally long to the point where they have lost most senses and can barely move. Your nom reminds me of a seven years old failed nom of mine. One last comment: Although I find such topics featurable, I do not think they should appear as POTD. It would simply be poor editorial judgement (which is to be clearly separated from censorship by the way). -- Slaunger (talk) 22:40, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose No! -- Lothar Spurzem (talk) 23:49, 24 November 2014 (UTC)
- Neutral I'm with Slaunger on this. I don't see reasons to oppose just because of blood. That being said, the composition could be better --Muhammad (talk) 01:58, 25 November 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose I don't see reasons to stay neutral just because of blood. Neither the composition nor the quality (noise, halos around men) deserve a support IMO. Regarding the subject I grew in a farm and this situation has nothing extraordinary. -- ChristianFerrer 06:08, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
- Haha, touche! But I didn't want to pile on an oppose, I like meat ;)--Muhammad (talk) 06:44, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose Very poor composition for me (without judging the theme of the image). Best regards --Chmee2 (talk) 18:38, 26 November 2014 (UTC)
- Neutral I think, its important to have pictures like this. But this alone makes it not excellent. --Hubertl (talk) 05:40, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
- I withdraw my nomination Thanks for the feedback, I will take this into consideration in future The Photographer (talk) 10:27, 28 November 2014 (UTC)
