This Flickr user may have mistakenly offered images fom copyrighted sources under a free license. See [3], [4] [5], [6]. All other images from similar sources are marked with all rights reserved. I think it's accidental. I originally started communicating with those folks getting material that was undeniably theirs, then User:MyCanon started getting images from MingleMediaTVNetwork as well. Woops, that's VERY doubtful. I know of only two images that originally came from WireImage that are on Commons, and I was involved in the chain of them getting cleared for use. In fact, both have OTRS statements - File:Chanel-Iman Runway 2009.jpg and File:ChanelIman.jpg. As i said, I'll check with MingleMedia to make sure they have clearance for use of those images on Commons. Tabercil (talk) 04:03, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

I've heard back from MingleMedia. Their reply in it's entirety:

"They were provided to us from Disney for official coverage of the D23 event, we, unfortunately don't own the images- while i would love to grant access to them- i dont think i have clearance to"

Well, you're familiar with the bot's current inability to apply the list of bad authors as well when reviewing files. I'll just say it: we probably need a new bot. – Adrignola talk 14:03, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Or somebody with access to the code and the ability to check what's wrong with it. It's probably just a minor change at the Flickr website causing these malfunctions as the bot expects data in a somewhat different form. --Denniss (talk) 14:10, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Inactive blocked Flickr user

Am I correct to assume that inactive blocked Flickr users should not only be moved to the inactive users list but also have their numeric ID removed from the Flickrreview bad authors list ? I once started to move inactive users to Commons:Questionable Flickr images/Users/Inactive to keep this list short but to not loos track of those bad flickrusers because of possible uploads to o^ther projects etc. I always updated the Flickrreview bad authors list using the numeric ids from the active QFI accounts, so yes, in this process inactive users will be removed from User:FlickreviewR/bad-authors. --Martin H. I can't find the photo anywhere on that web site, though. The page has contact information, so Jon-Are Berg-Jacobsen could be asked about these photos. That comment looks like it was written by the Commons user who transferred it here after the copyright problem was brought to their attention. The file is an obvious copyright violation on behalf of the Flickr uploader. It's a very well-known photo in this part of the world, published under non-free license by major news organizations. Other uploads from the same Flickr account are also blatant copyright violations, as evidenced by their EXIF data, and the account should definitely be listed here. —LX (talk, contribs) 16:06, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

Agreed, this user should be blacklisted. I uploaded this image in good faith, since it's about the only (supposed) CC image of Anders Behring Breivik I've found on the net, only to discover it's been flickrwashed. I'm livid. I suggest you blacklist these photos, the account, whatever you have to do, and please go ahead and completely delete the image. Nov. 2011, source to http://www.flickr.com/photos/71125567@N07/6432776785/, to where it was uploaded on 30. Nov. 2011, though as of the EXIF it was shot on 20. Nov. 2011 and belongs to Jason Merritt/Getty Images. Is blacklisting working again ?

I just stumbled about two files that were surprisingly tagged as originating from blacklisted Flickr users. File:Alonso Hungary GP 2011.jpg and File:Alonso Hungary 3rd place.jpg. Flickr user dannyb/Danny Bollinger has uploaded dozens of Getty Images photos, including File:Dirk Nowitzki in Dallas (June 2011) 2.jpg, File:Dirk Nowitzki with NBA Finals MVP trophy (June 2011) 2.jpg and File:Dirk Nowitzki with NBA Finals MVP trophy (June 2011).jpg, with the following notice in the file description: "NOTE TO USER: User expressly acknowledges and agrees that, by downloading and or using this photograph, User is consenting to the terms and conditions of the Getty Images License Agreement. I agree with your observation. However it does not affect the fact those few uploads which are marked as CC-By-SA are blatant copyright infringements possibly uploaded with the purpose of Flickr washing. A quick question

Is once a bad user, always a bad user? I mean if some of the images in FlickR by an user was copyright violation, and so the user is a bad user, still the user may offer loads of original high value images. Just as it's possible to add users to this list, it's possible to remove them from the list, and you can propose that here if you can justify it. Of course, do not expect such a proposal to pass unless the Flickr user has removed all copyright violations from their account. —LX (talk, contribs) 01:02, 25 July 2012 (UTC)

Depending on the user and the amount of unfree files in the portfolio at Flickr (some may just be accidentally released as free) you may also ask an Admin or reviewer for an individual review. If we use isafmedia as example they have lots of images from US military personell which are clearly PD-USGov but they offer also a lot of images from other nation's military with a free license although in most cases the copyright is retained by the individual photographer. Thanks. This is regarding rajkumar 1220. I uploaded some of the images from his flickr photo stream. As I do not have much experience in uploading photos, some of them I uploaded without using the flickr option in upload wizard.The one that I uploaded with flickr template got deleted as he is blacklisted here. However, most of his photos are evidently taken by himself, and released under CC. This list gives the reason behind his ban as "album of birds stolen from other flickr-users". A Flickr uploader being listed here does not mean that their files should be automatically rejected. What it does mean is that their files should not be automatically approved by license reviewing bots. Instead, they should be flagged for human review. Since the account in question still has lots of non-free content under unauthorized licenses (e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ahinsajain/sets/72157608953608730/), it should not be removed from the list. —LX (talk, contribs) 17:42, 29 July 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation. I agree that that particular user still has many wrongly licensed images. However some of them are properly licensed, and have encyclopedic value. I wouldn't do this - that's a large stream with lots of valuable images. Most probably they forgot to use ARR for this and some other images of this timeframe if they have really been taken from somewhere else.
